Tom Prinsell (b.1991) is a New York-based artist who primarily works with acrylic and oil paint.
His work draws on medieval and Renaissance art, as well as looking to architectural visual references, to construct dioramic scenes of fantastical architecture, landscapes and taxidermy animals. Tom’s images have taken the form of constructed scenes within scenes – paintings with painted frames or borders that open onto jarringly artificial compositions of the natural world.
Tom received a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in the spring of 2013. Since receiving his degree, Tom has worked for a number of established artists and has been included in multiple group exhibitions throughout New York City.
